Simulation of a Virtual Reality Tracking System

Simulation of a Virtual Reality Tracking System Inproceedings

Kapil Patel, Wolfgang Stuerzlinger

Abstract:

Virtual reality tracking systems are used to detect the position and orientation of a user inside spatially immersive systems. In this paper, we simulate a laser-based tracking system that was originally developed for a six-sided spatially immersive system in environments with one and five walls to evaluate its performance for other installations. As expected, the results show that performance degrades with the number of walls, but they also show that tracking with even one wall is still very feasible.
